EMARA NEYMOUR JACKSON X WARNER GRAND THEATRE

Emara Neymour Jackson is a LA Based dancer, vocalist, actress, filmmaker, and creative director of her experimental research practice, PumpUp! Through her use of multimedia and performative exploration, she investigates the range of energetic frequencies in her spiritual and physical awareness as it relates to the consciousness of movement language in an Afro-diasporic context.

Her art explores the victories and traumas of the Black Femme Body and mobilizes itself through black social dance and grooves while exploring the presence of black dance in spaces dominated by white bodies. Neymour has performed and collaborated with artists including Solange Ferguson Knowles, Moses Sumney, Gerrard, and Kelly, Dimitri Chamblas, Nina Flagg, Chris Emile, and more. Neymour is the recipient of The Dance Saint Louis; Dance Career Award(2016), and she was awarded in Seoul, Korea as a finalist of the Seoul International Dance Competition(2018).
